Welcome to The Mark of the Beast homepage. This is the Website for the Draenor (previously Terenas) Horde Guild Mark of the Beast. We are an established guild that has been raiding since 2007! If this is your first visit please feel free to browse our website. If you are considering applying to Mark of the Beast please check to see if your class is currently open by looking on the recruitment table on the right. If you wish to apply please use the Recruitment Poster found in the Recruitment Tab in the panel above. Please keep in mind you can never give too much information in an application!! If you have any trouble using this then contact some one in game. It will normally take up to 3 days for an application to be processed. If you are unsuccessful due to recruitment for your class or role being closed we would like to keep you on file and may approach you at a later date. You can review our raid progress by mousing over the purple bars to the left.
We give all full members 100% free repairs 100% of the time!
We will be planning and scheduling achievements and will assign the management of guild achievements to an officer. We raid for fun! Good Luck with your gaming!
Grand Master: Guild Leader Seneschal: Guild Leader's Second in Command Marshall: Class Leader & General Officer Under Marshall: Officer alts (their main will be written in the public note)
Province Master: Profession Masters (will receive Guild Resources to receive recipes) Standard Bearer: Regular member Draper: Regular member alt Knight: Probationary member Ambassador: Social Member
If you become an Ambassador your DKP will be wiped clean. You will only be able to gain loot from a raid if no one else has a need or an off spec request. You will not lose your guild membership from not attending raids however if you don't log on for 2 weeks, without a no show post on the form, you will be removed from guild. Free mats from the Guild Bank will not be available to this rank.
Basic Rules During a raid you will be expected to join the relevant channel to your class this keeps /ra chat to a minimum to enable the raid leader to conduct his job more efficiently. A class leader is also there to assist and advise you with talents and loot. If there is a problem in a raid the raid leader will take up the issue with the relevant class leader then he or she will deal with the offending party in their own channel not in /ra or /g (this saves the “I’m a mage and I know about healers” type arguments which may or may not be true but generally irritates). Class leaders will also have access to the guild bank and will provide you with raid consumables.
Recruitment
New members on probation will have a 3 week trial and at the end will require an 80% Raid Attendance.
Whilst on probation you will earn DKP and you will be allowed to bid on items but you will not necessarily be awarded the item over a full member. This will only be done at the discretion of the Guild Leader.
DKP is account based not character based.
If you sign up for a raid and don’t attend with out informing any one you can be penalised up to 20% of your total DKP (ofc if your leg fell off or some other serious issue occurred this can be waved by a Marshall)
Please check the DKP policy page for more information.
There is a cap placed on recruitment we will not have more than 60 members at any one time (this does not include alts). Wives or husbands get automatic entry no matter there level or skill however we would like to discourage siblings as this can sometimes be difficult for other members to deal with.
The age limit is 18
Because of the small guild size and the fact that we want to progress in this game we need active players to make it happen. You will be required to maintain an attendance level of 66% over a 4 week period. If you do not meet this target you will lose your raid spot. The only exception to this is if you have made a no show request via the forum (though it should be noted you can only be absent for a maximum of 2 weeks before being demoted to social rank and losing your raid spot).
Teamspeak IS a requirement. You don’t need to have a mic but you need to be able to hear & more importantly LISTEN.
General Description
Officer roles give access to the officer chat and officer forum. This comes with a responsibility to participate in any debate ongoing. Everyone promoted as officer must have an interest in making MOTB a better guild. General moaning without any valid arguments is not accepted nor is a passive attitude. As an officer you set the standard which guild members should follow. Guild Master
Overall responsibility for all decisions and will have the last word in every discussion. Make sure the communication between each officer is clean and sober. Make sure every task within the guild has a countable/responsible member. Class Leaders
Make sure we have the sufficient classes/numbers within the guild, based on how many a fight need and member activity. Understanding of each specific healing, ranged, tank & melee class. Know and be able to explain the class strategy, make sure of rotations (e.g. healing, sheeping) Sort out suggestions given by members of the specific class and explain these to the raid leader. Retrieve the required consumables for each raid from the guild bank and make sure we have sufficient pots available prior to each raid. Raid activity: 80% or above Communicate via TS DKP Master
Sort out the DKP for each raid. Handles any DKP issues the members might have. Responsible for ML when raiding. Activity 80% or above
Raid Leader
Does raid invites. Post raids on the raid planner Overall responsible for each raid. Understanding of each class in individual. Know the boss fights in detail & able to explain the fights so that everyone understands it. Work out a strategy based on boss tactics from websites and suggestions from the class leaders.
Raid activity: 80% or above Communicate via TS
Recruitment Officer
Understand the recruitment rules and make sure these are followed by every application. Active forum user, (post a response to every application) Communicate with the class leaders and know what classes we need. Make sure the recruitment module is up to date. Recruitment officer needs to keep the in game list up to date and clean. Website Administrator
Make sure the post are somewhat sober, (e.g. criticism about a member is not allowed unless a valid argument is posted). Solve any errors on the website and add any forum sections that the guild needs. If possible add any ideas by the members to the website. General administration rights about new members and members leaving. Guild Bank Manager
Pays the members for any mats they send to the guild bank (only if it’s sent by mail and NOT deposited directly into the bank). Sells and buys un/needed stuff on the auction house. Must have a general interest in economics and be able to spend a lot of time at the auction house.
Province Masters
Will be the first to receive all BOE recipes for their specific profession. This role is entirely decided by the officers and only given to members who have been in MOTB for a long time and are not likely to leave. Their crafting skills will be 100% available to everyone in guild (rank permitting) and they will craft the item free of charge if the mats are available (and again rank permitting). Province masters have access to the Guild Bank so members may ask them to retrieve items for them. It is entirely at the discretion of the province master if they wish to comply with this. They have the right to refuse in which case the member should speak to an officer who will decide if they can have the item in question.
The following add-ons are MANDATORY: oRA3 Deadly Boss Mods If you do not have the MANDATORY add-ons and they are not up to date please see raid rules regarding –DKP.
In order to sustain a decent raid force there’s a penalty should you wish to change your main character into a different one or should you wish to change your spec. This will hopefully prevent anyone from swapping main char over and over, but not completely make it impossible to change should anyone become tired of playing their character.
The penalty for changing your char is 500dkp and this may only be done once every 6 months (unless it is requested from the Class leaders to whom it effects and has to be ratified by the HR department). All member roles are considered to remain as they were when they applied and can only change if requested by the relevant class leaders. If you are requested to change to a different spec this will be done at no cost to yourself and shall be considered a requirement. Whilst not raiding all members should behave in a sensible manner and consider the implications of being “stuck up your own arse” while in a pug. You must always attempt to remain civil. Ninja looting from a pug will be an instant guild kick. Undercutting Flimflan in the auction house will also be an instant guild kick. We are considered by many, but not by ourselves, to be a higher end guild. But this does not mean we don’t speak to anyone else. As we were all noobs at one point in time (and indeed some remain so). This is a more mature guild and we need to behave as such publicly to encourage the right kind of applicant Refrain from flaming in /2 (this rule does not apply to Flimflan). Refrain from spamming crap in a raid instance general channel.
This is a list of the rules required for MOTB raiding.
Attendance
If you cannot make raids for more than 2 week out of a month you will lose your raid spot and be demoted to Ambassador and lose all positive DKP. If you are an Ambassador and don't log on for 2 weeks without a no show post you will be
removed from guild. This is NOT up for debate and applies to everyone.
Signing Up
Signing up is an absolute requirement and by signing up we mean either a yes, a no or a not sure. If over a 30 day period you forget to sign up you will lose 25DKP for each time you have failed to do so.
Sign ups close 30 minutes before raid start so if you have not signed (Signed = Yes, No, Not sure) we will open places to non guild members. If you have not signed and you still attend raid you will not receive DKP and you will still have DKP deducted (at the end of the month).
If you have any problems of a technical nature using the sign up page speak to an officer. If they are unavailable send them a PM through the website. Start of Raid Preparation
1 .Make sure you are at the start of the instance at the right time (do NOT expect a summon). 2. Make sure you are 100% repaired (since repairs are free there really is no need for you to NOT be repaired). 3. Make sure you have the correct add-ons and that they are up to date. 4. Make sure you have the correct spec for the raid.
For each of those things you fail at achieving you can lose 5DKP at the discretion of any officer attending the raid!
Raid Leader
Any one is allowed to make observations and suggest alternative methods but it’s at the discretion of the raid leader to use them or not. Class Leaders
Make sure you are in the correct channel and make sure you get the correct pots and buff food from your class leader ASAP. Your class leader is your boss. If you do exactly as you are told by him/her and we still fail then we can then blame the class leader!!
Wiping
If you die wait for the instruction to run or wait for resurrection. Buffers make sure that when people die you rebuff ASAP. If it is a wipe, group up as fast as possible and buffers spam your buffs. Going AFK during this period is unacceptable and if 24 people are waiting for one individual we consider that person losing 25DKP a fair price for doing so. Resurrection order
1. Other resurrection able classes (regardless of their raid role – if they can res then res them first) 2. Mana users 3. Everyone else Regarding buffage - make sure that if you are a class that has a raid buff go get an add-on that tells you if you are missing anyone. A wipe should not take more than 10 minutes to regroup, rebuff and pull again (unless there is a change of tactics). For every minute over 10 minutes we may decide to remove DKP equal to 1 for every member present. So this means DO YOUR JOB and all will be well. If you can resurrect then do so. If you can buff then do so! Raid Times
The Raid time is 20:00 to 00:00 server time on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. If you wish to leave early (sometimes this is necessary) it is YOUR responsibility to find a replacement for yourself and then request a change. Do not make a habit of this as you will lose DKP for not staying till the end.
How to earn DKP
You earn DKP by attending raids on our official raid days (currently that is Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday)
Raids start at 20:00 (invites at 19:45) server time and finish at 23:00 server time.
Being on time (20:00) and staying until the end (00:00) rewards 8DKP.
You Lose DKP by not attending a raid at 4DKP for each raid you miss
How to use DKP
Our DKP system is actually a mix of DKP and loot Council. You have to have 72 minimum DKP to be eligable to obtain loot. if you are elgiable and no one else is interested the item is yours at no cost. if however there is more than one person then the person with the greatest gain based on item weight from either Wowhead or Rawr will obtain the item.
Knights (people still on trial) will be able to bid, but in certain cases it maybe disregarded in favour of a full member. This is at the discretion of the Guild Leader.
If we take non guild members to an official raid and they really want an item the ML may decide a roll can be used. If this happens then a ZERO DKP cost will apply.
You can be assured that the ML will try to avoid this as much as possible however sometimes it’s about forming new relationships and alliances.
BoE items cannot be off spec or bid for. Only full NEED bids can be used and if no-one bids the item goes to the guild bank fund.
